The Trunk We Opened

At Deux Pigeons, we realized that heirlooms don’t make themselves!

For years, I searched for the kinds of things I longed to live with: vintage dresses and pajamas with charming silhouettes, table linens with hand-done embroidery, the little heirlooms that make daily rituals feel special. But vintage was tricky—the sizing was off, the fabrics were fragile, and linens too often came stained from someone else’s Sunday supper. The pieces had lived one glamorous life too many! I couldn’t be the only one wishing for these treasures remade for today, with the same care and detail, but fresh and ready to love.

So Deux Pigeons was born. I wanted to make the things your heiress grandmother should have left you in that antique trunk: embroidered table linens, flirty dresses, dreamy pajamas, and plates too pretty to hide in a cabinet. Our world is made up of embroiderers in India, ceramicists in Italy, and makers with hands as steady as a dowager’s martini—pouring time and craft into every piece.  And small batch, always. We have our own atelier with a team that dreams up things, so we can put it out there without having to deal with MOQs and lengthy lead times. Just as it should be.

So here we are.

We make heirlooms for now.

Our guiding thought? Why wait for an inheritance when you can start the collection now?

With love,

Vi
